Along with the Yari and Satio, Sony Ericsson has also launched the Aino touchscreen handset in India, which features some unique integration with the PlayStation 3.
The Aino comes with a feature called Remote Play for the PS3, which lets you control your video game console and access it contents via a Wi-Fi or WLAN connection. The MediaGo feature allows for a similar functionality to pull media content from your PC to your phone. Neat!
But even without these features, the phone is quite a handful. It sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen that displays 16 million colours at a resolution of 240x432 pixels. Users should be warned that the touch-sensitive controls are limited to only some aspects of the phone, such as camera, gallery, multimedia players and some Java applications. The other functions of the phone can be controlled by the standard keypad, revealed by sliding the screen upwards.
Photography enthusiasts will be extremely happy with the 8-megapixel camera, complete with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and image stabilisation. It also offers users the ability to record VGA video at 30 frames per second.
There’s also a secondary video-call camera, which can let users conduct video-conferences via 3G, Wi-Fi or EDGE. For additional connectivity, there is Bluetooth support, which is also the best way to listen to music or stereo FM radio on this phone, since there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Packaged with an 8GB microSD card and complete with applications for Google Maps, YouTube, Facebook, picture editing and blogging, the device boasts of a talk-time of 13 hours.
